Briareum sp. - The Branching Green Star Polyp is is a great twist on the classic hobbyist favorite Green Star Polyp. GSP are one of the most common and recognizable aquarium corals for good reason. They're bright, colorful, and their polyps move mesmerizingly in the flow. They are popular to new hobbyists because they grow lightning fast and are very easy to keep - sometimes too easy!
Be sure to place your Branching Green Star Polyps in an area where they won't spread to compete with your other corals. Some popular places to "plant" them are on the back glass, the overflow box, or the bottom of the tank to act like a miniature reef "lawn." It encrusts anything you put it on, so get creative with it! Some whimsical reefers even attach it to decorations like skulls to form hair. This is a branching species which makes it a little different because it forms spires and peaks as it grows, showing off how closely related it is to Gorgonians.
