Full job description
- Perform basic water quality sampling.
- Perform harvesting, sorting, grading, and packing of fish/coral orders to be shipped.
- Assist in the unpacking, acclimating and conditioning of incoming marine life.
- Perform basic animal care, which includes feeding, treatments and observations.
- Record essential data and perform some data analysis.
- Inventory shipping supplies, make and prepare shipping materials as needed (e.g., making boxes, preparing airbills).
- Assist in the construction and maintenance of tanks and equipment used in daily operations, as needed.
- Must work well with others in a well-mannered fashion.
- Perform other job-related tasks, even outside of standard working hours, to ensure the successful operation of the company.
- Assist in cleanliness of fish and coral holding facilities. Includes checking and changing filters, draining and cleaning tanks, wiping down equipment and floors.
- Data entry/ stock take and inventory
- Microfragmentation of Corals
- Photography of livestock
**MARGINAL FUNCTIONS of the job:
- Perform related duties as required.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Job involves frequent bending, stooping, ducking, pushing, pulling, and lifting
Up to 50 lbs. Very infrequent sitting.
Work is performed in an warehouse environment (in water, in tanks) 90-99% of
the time.
Some outdoor work/maintenance is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working in marine environment with pumps, plumbing, tanks, and water systems preferred.
- Experience with fish/invertebrate packing is a plus.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in biology or aquaculture is a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekend work.
