Clarkii Clownfish Proaquatix

Details

Amphiprion clarkii- The Proaquatix Clarkii Clownfish now available through Biota is a wonderfully variable and hardy captive-bred version of Amphiprion clarkii. Each fish displays its own unique combination of body color, caudal fin color, and stripe count, ranging from yellow, tan, and black bodies to white or yellow tails and two or three white bars that may sometimes appear faint. This natural variation makes every individual a standout in the aquarium.

Though Clarkii clownfish will readily pair with common anemone species when available, they do not require an anemone to thrive. In the wild they form symbiotic relationships with pizza anemones (Cryptodendrum adhesivum), bubble-tip anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor), sand anemones (Heteractis aurora), Sebae anemones (Heteractis crispa), magnificent anemones (Heteractis magnifica), Malu anemones (Heteractis malu), long-tentacle anemones (Macrodactyla doreensis), and carpet anemones such as Stichodactyla gigantea, S. haddoni, and S. mertensii. In a home reef they will often adopt corals and rockwork as a substitute host.

Raised by Proaquatix, these Clarkii arrive tank-ready and free from the stress of wild collection. They have been conditioned to accept high-quality pellets and flakes as well as frozen Mysis shrimp, ocean plankton, and brine shrimp. Their captive-bred origin makes them more adaptable than wild specimens, so you can expect them to settle in quickly and feed eagerly.

Like all clownfish, Clarkii are sequential hermaphrodites: the largest fish becomes female and the next largest becomes male, establishing a stable social hierarchy. They are reef-safe and show little interest in corals or invertebrates, adding lively personality and bold patterning to any marine aquarium. Now available at Biota, the Proaquatix Clarkii Clownfish brings both spectacular color variation and sustainable provenance to your reef.
