Amphiprion ocellaris - The Mocha Semi-Storm Clownfish is a striking captive bred variant bred by Proaquatix and now available through Biota. The Mocha Semi-Storm comes from the cross of the Darwin and Orange Storm brood line. This fish features "mocha" body with a crisp white masked face and smooth, flowing bars that link down its sides.
Mocha Semi-Storms arrive tank‑ready and free from wild‑capture stress. They have been conditioned on high quality pellets and flakes, and readily accept frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, ocean plankton, and brine shrimp. Their captive‑bred origins make them hardier and more adaptable than wild‑caught specimens, allowing them to settle in quickly and thrive under standard reef conditions.
Like all clownfish, Mocha Semi-Storms exhibit a clear social hierarchy. In a group or pair, the largest fish becomes the female while the next largest becomes male. This species is reef safe and compatible with most other reef safe fish. Their natural host anemones are H. magnifica, S. gigantea, and S. mertensii, but they often adopt Bubble Tip Anemones, rockwork, coral, or algae as substitutes for host anemones.
By offering this Proaquatix‑bred variety, Biota makes it easy to support sustainable aquaculture and add a fancy variety of one of the most popular aquarium fish to your reef.
