Fibramia amboinensis - The Ambon or Amboina Cardinalfish, is a reef and mangrove-associated cardinalfish that has recently become available as captive bred from Biota, making it a rare and exciting addition for aquarists.
Ambon Cardinalfish are social and thrive in small groups or shoals. A trio can comfortably live in a tank 50 gallons or larger, while larger groups do best in long, spacious aquariums. Providing plenty of caves, overhangs, and secure hiding spots encourages natural behaviors and helps the fish feel safe, while still allowing them to be active and visible in the water column.
They are reef safe and peaceful, though very small fish and invertebrates may be at risk from adult Ambon Cardinalfish, which generally reach around 4 inches in captivity. We recommend a varied diet of frozen meaty foods and Easy Reefs DKI pellets and Masstick.
Captive bred Fibramia amboinensis are an ideal choice for aquarists seeking a hardy, social, and visually engaging cardinalfish for their reef setup.
