Forcipiger flavissimus - Biota is proud to introduce a world’s first: the commercially available captive bred Longnose Butterflyfish. This striking species is now available thanks to a groundbreaking aquaculture collaboration between Biota Hawaii and the Oceanic Institute at Hawaii Pacific University.
Longnose Butterflyfish are known for their vivid yellow bodies, elongated snouts, and peaceful personalities. Until now, these fish were only available as wild-caught, often with a reputation for being delicate and challenging in captivity. Our captive bred individuals are adapted to aquarium life and eating prepared foods like DKI pellets and frozen foods, making them hardier and far more sustainable choices for reef aquarists.
This species is considered to be "reef safe with caution" and may pick at corals and sessile inverts. Provide ample rockwork for hiding and grazing. Like most butterflyfish, they prefer mature aquariums with stable conditions.
