Dry Goods - Feeds, Aquariums, and Maintenance

Scartella cristata - The Molly Miller Blenny may not be the brightest colored fish, but don't be quick to overlook them. They are highly sought after for their amazing cleaning skills. Molly Miller Blennies are reported to eat small Aiptasia, microalgae, and even Cyanobacteria and Valonia.
Unlike most other blenny species, they can live in groups when added together to larger aquariums. They're peaceful toward other fish species, though adults can sometimes become semi-aggressive similar to lawnmower blennies. If their cleaning abilities don't endear them to you, their playful antics will. This species is gregarious and entertaining after acclimation, constantly chasing each other and grazing on live rock.
Feeding
Molly Millers are not picky when it comes to feeding and will take most aquarium foods. We recommend a varied diet for these omnivores including Easy Reefs DKI pellets and Masstick and also frozen foods like Spirulina brine shrimp, calanus, and mysis.
Why buy captive bred?
Unfortunately, this species when wild caught is frequently confused and misidentified. That means the wild "imposter" species won't eat Aiptasia like the Molly Miller does. Not only can you be certain of getting the right Aiptasia-eating species when you buy captive bred, but you know your fish has lived its entire life in captivity. You'll also know that your fish is young and not old, so you'll have more years with your new pet.
These fish are small on arrival, so be sure to use an acclimation box to introduce them to a tank with larger tank mates. When they are first added, it's common for them to disappear for a time, then emerge when they've grown larger.
