Pseudochromis aldabrensis - With its bright orange body and iridescent blue stripes along the dorsal and head, the Neon Dottyback brings both color and attitude to any reef aquarium. Two bold blue lines run the length of the body and fins, with additional short markings across the face, giving this fish a truly striking appearance.
Native to the waters off the eastern coast of Africa and as far south as South Africa, this species is a natural predator of small invertebrates and worms, and will spend most of its time darting among the rocks and crevices of the reef. Like other dottybacks, it is territorial, especially toward its own kind, and does best either singly or as a known bonded pair.
Captive-bred by Proaquatix, these fish are hardy, reef safe, and well-adjusted to aquarium life. They have been raised on pellets and flakes, and eagerly take frozen foods like Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped seafood.
While they may nip at very small ornamental shrimp, they usually leave corals and most other inverts alone. They are also known for helping reduce unwanted pests like bristle worms, making them a great addition to a pest-control-minded reef keeper’s system.
When combining Proaquatix with Biota fish in the same order, please choose a Friday delivery.
