Signigobius biocellatus - The Biota Palau Captive-Bred Twin Spot Goby, also known as the Twin Spot or Two Spot Signal Goby, is a striking and unique sand-sifting species prized for its bold pattern and peaceful behavior. Recognized by the two distinct eyespots on its dorsal fins and its fascinating scooting movement across the sandbed, this goby adds both function and beauty to a reef or marine aquarium.
Unlike wild-caught Twin Spot Gobies, which are notoriously difficult to acclimate and often struggle to thrive in captivity, Biota’s captive-bred specimens are conditioned to accept prepared diets such as high-quality Easy Reefs DKI pellets and frozen foods. As a result, they are much hardier, less stressed, and far more adaptable to home aquarium conditions than their wild counterparts.
These captive-bred Twin Spot Gobies make excellent additions to peaceful community tanks, particularly reef aquariums with soft sand substrates where they can exhibit their natural sifting behavior. These gobies are small enough to fit in nano tanks, and interesting enough to go in a larger reef tank. We strongly recommend introducing these small fish using an acclimation box .
Their diet should include We recommend Easy Reefs DKI pellets and Masstick plus a variety of small frozen foods like Calanus and baby brine shrimp to ensure proper nutrition and long-term health.
With their charming appearance, peaceful nature, and captive-bred resilience, Biota’s Twin Spot Gobies are a responsible and rewarding choice for aquarists who want something truly special for their reef tank.
