Biota Custom Micro Reef-Ready Tank 40oz Desktop Aquarium - with Livestock

Details

This Micro Tank is the world's smallest fully functional reef tank, complete with everything you need to get started, even the fish and coral! This tank is perfect for your work desk or kitchen countertop. You can have a little pet to entertain you all day while you work in the office or prepare dinner.

While the vast majority of fish are far too large to comfortably fit inside this micro tank, there is one exception: Trimma, Eviota, and Elacatinus nano gobies. These tiny fish are less than one inch long and spend most of their time perching on rock or coral instead of swimming, so they don't need a lot of territory. They come in a wide variety of colors.

We recommend captive bred nano gobies over wild caught gobies wich are difficult to feed and prefer only messy frozen foods. Our Biota captive bred gobies readily eat pellet foods. Frozen calanus, mysis, etc. are healthy additions to their diet and are best to feed right before a water change.

Water quality is maintained with frequent full water changes (it only takes a few minutes), frequent top-off with RO/DI water, and Chemipure filter media in the sump.

This plug and play kit includes everything you need to get started, plus a nano goby and hardy mini coral.

Helpful hints:

Evaporation will cause high variation in the water's salinity, so ensure you're topping off your tank with RO/DI water as often as needed.

Water changes are quick and easy. Make your new saltwater at least 24 hours in advance and keep it circulating with a small pump or airstone. The new saltwater should have the same pH, salinity, and temperature as the water in your tank before doing a water change so you don't shock your livestock. Many reefers who already have an aquarium use water from their main tank to do water changes.
