Acropora cf striata - Aquacultured Acropora varieties now available from Biota Palau! These are F2 frags from established F1 broodstock colonies.
This "bottlebrush" Acropora variety is a Biota favorite. Blue is a rare color in nature, and few Acropora corals sport this sought after color. In our systems, the branches of this variety are blue, green, and purple, and many of the axial corallites have bright yellow rings. These well-encrusted mini-colonies have infinite potential for even the most discerning Acropora aficionado and will soon turn into stunning mature colonies. Though it's difficult to identify Acropora to species, this one is likely Acropora striata, which is similar to both Acropora tenuis and Acropora echinata.
Acropora are considered to be by some the pinnacle of reefkeeping. They're generally considered to be difficult to keep, but very rewarding. They need moderate to high lighting and moderate to high water flow. It's necessary to maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, and trace elements such as potassium. These fragments are grown under EcoTech Radion and Philips Coral Care lights. We use and recommend Easy Reefs Easy Booster and Easy SPS coral food.
