Premnas biaculeatus - The Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish is a stunning designer variety of the Maroon Clownfish, prized for its rich maroon coloration accented by brilliant golden patterning. Each fish develops its own unique markings as it matures, making every individual a one of a kind addition to a marine aquarium. Juveniles have white patterns which darken to gold with age. Their bold personality, striking appearance, and hardy nature have made them a favorite among clownfish enthusiasts.

These captive bred clownfish are produced by our partners at Proaquatix and are raised entirely in aquaculture facilities. Being born and raised in captivity allows them to adapt readily to aquarium life and prepared foods, making them an excellent choice for both experienced reef keepers and those looking to keep a larger clownfish species for the first time.

Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish readily accept a wide variety of prepared foods including high quality pellets, frozen foods, and other meaty marine diets. A varied diet rich in marine proteins will help maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.

Like other Maroon Clownfish, this species can become territorial as it matures, particularly females. They are best kept singly, as a pair, or with tank mates that are able to coexist with their territorial personality. If housing with an anemone, they will readily host in suitable specie [Bubble tip anemones are a favorite, natural host), though an anemone is not required for them to thrive.
