Amblygobius linki - Biota Palau introduced the Link's goby to both aquaculture and the aquarium trade. They're a beautiful fish with heavily contrasting black and white horizontal bands with behavior very similar to the related Court Jester Goby.
Link's Goby is not only pretty and cute, it is a useful sand sifter and eat bits of hair algae in aquariums! Hardy, peaceful, reef safe and a hard worker - what more could you ask for in a fish?
This species has a lot of home aquarium potential because of its natural hardiness and tolerance of salinity changes. The natural habitat of the Link's Goby is silty mud flats among mangrove roots. They may also be found in estuaries or in the shallows of saline lakes. They're just as at home in a reef tank as they are in a mangrove biotope.
Link's Gobies are well-behaved reef inhabitants that will not pick at coral, sessile invertebrates, or other species of fish. Avoid keeping it with aggressive species or animals that are large enough to eat small fish. Like other gobies, these can easily jump out of an aquarium when chased or frightened, so a tight fitting lid is required. With a max size of 3" they fit well in a nano aquarium of at least 20 gallons but are big enough to be interesting in larger aquariums.
"These guys are way cooler than I expected lol my guy has got big and fat and basically eats a little of everything. This fish is active all day . And never makes a mess in the sand bed like some sifters do ." - Biota customer John W.
